Becoming the Response

What if the most powerful response to these times begins with who we become?

In this episode, I explore how we respond to emergencies - how when they show up in our day to day, we can normally move quickly into action and respond. But when we’re faced with climate change, biodiversity loss, inequality, and the many interconnected challenges facing our world, it can feel very different. The problems are vast, complex, and often far beyond our control. For many of us, this can leave us feeling overwhelmed, powerless, fearful, and questioning whether what we’re doing is enough.

I share my own experience of dedicating my career to creating positive impact and doing all the “right” sustainable behaviours, yet still feeling like it wasn’t enough. I explore how living in a constant state of anticipatory fear about the future can affect our wellbeing, our creativity, and our ability to respond effectively to the challenges we care about.

We explore the relationship between our inner world and our capacity to create change. We look at how awareness of what’s happening in the world can contract us into hopelessness and scarcity thinking, and how reconnecting with ourselves can help us move into a more generative, expansive, and creative state.

We discuss the importance of taking care of our own wellbeing alongside caring for the planet and others, finding peace in ‘enoughness’ while also expanding our consciousness beyond the limitations we’ve placed on ourselves and what’s possible. We explore how becoming aware of the stories, beliefs, and assumptions that shape our lives allows us to transform them, and how self-trust, self-leadership, authenticity, and compassion can help us step into our capacity as creators of change.

This episode is an invitation to consider what change could become possible when we come back to ourselves. When we align with who we truly are, connect with what gives us energy, learn to navigate difficult emotions, and create change from a place of presence rather than fear. Because perhaps creating a more regenerative future isn’t just about what we do, it’s about who we become.

The podcast is part of the Becoming the Change movement - for people who are getting to know themselves more deeply, exploring how to contribute to a more just and regenerative future, and looking for a more fulfilling, energising and easeful way of doing that.
