I’m excited to share the first episode of On Becoming the Change, a new podcast that explores how personal transformation can lead to systemic change.
After over a decade working in jobs trying to ‘fix the world’s problems’ in international development and sustainability, I found myself disillusioned and overwhelmed by the scale of the global challenges we face.
This podcast is for those who are striving to make the world a better place but may be feeling burnt out or uncertain about how to make a real impact.
After working through a lot of my own personal blockers, eco-anxiety and disillusionment about whether I was really making an impact, I started this podcast to explore how personal growth and systemic change are deeply interconnected. We'll dive into the inner work needed to address global issues with more ease, purpose, and authenticity.
On this podcast, I’ll speak with people who have influenced my journey of becoming, from colleagues, coaches and course leaders. Together, we’ll dive into topics like - how to be well in the context of climate change, the power of systems and regenerative thinking, the importance of mindfulness and consciousness, and the role of self-awareness and coaching in creating a regenerative future.
I will be releasing episodes every week. I’m looking forward to sharing them with you and would love to hear what resonated, so please drop me a message with any reflections. If you think others may be interested, then please do share it with them.
Here are a few other updates on what I’ve been up to and what’s coming up (if you listen to the podcast, it’ll explain why they have the word ‘conscious’ in them!)
Conscious Changemakers Walk
A lovely group of us came together to walk on Sunday and had a great time in the sunshine. We talked about what nature means to each of us, and people shared that it calms and relaxes them and brings a sense of peace and tranquility, others shared it brings them joy and delight, others said it reminds me that I am nature too and that it makes me feel connected to the world around them. There was lots of great conversation and a lot of time admiring nature and it was great to see new connections being made.
The next two Conscious Changemakers walks are on:
Sunday 20th October at 10am
Sunday 24th November at 10am
If you are free and can get to Reigate, Surrey then do come and join us. You can sign up here.
Conscious Evolution Collage
It was a joy to facilitate my first in-person workshop of the Conscious Evolution Collage this week.
The Conscious Evolution Collage workshop brings to life how all global issues are interconnected and explores the deeper psychological roots that are causing these issues. It then provides a path forward to address problems at the root and how we can work towards a desirable, realistic and inspiring future, which starts with each of us as individuals.
In the workshop, we journeyed together to explore the roots of the global crises and came out with a deeper understanding of the change that is needed of humanity and how each of us can be conscious participants to a better future. These were some words people shared about how they felt at the end of the workshop:
"Uplifted", "Joyful", "Galvanised", "Hopeful"
If you would like to join a future workshop I’m hosting:
➡️ Online Conscious Evolution Collage - Friday 18th October at 8am-11am - you can sign up here
➡️Embodied Regeneration Nature Immersion weekend 11-13th October - this is a weekend retreat for women in Kent hosted by Nikki Kapp to nourish our bodies, minds, and hearts, and deepen connections with nature and each other. I'm looking forward to facilitating the workshop as part of this weekend. Find out more here.

Sustainability professionals research
We’ve had a lot of interest and support for our research findings on ‘Supporting Sustainability Professionals to Thrive’ and I will share more about that soon. We surveyed 92 sustainability professionals and conducted in-depth interviews with 28 of them to explore the highs and lows of their time in role, what skills they think are important to have in the role and what more support they would like.
Our research found that technical training on sustainability, the dominant approach to skills frameworks, is not enough to create meaningful change in organisations.
Instead more support for sustainability professionals is needed to develop 2 essential skills: personal resilience, to manage eco-anxiety and the ‘all-encompassing nature’ of climate breakdown, and persuasion and comfort with conflict, because complexity and non-technical interests in the outcomes often lead to disagreement.
If you would like to watch a recording of us sharing the findings you can find it here (Passcode: !#5P!XwP). A 2 page summary of these findings can be found here (sneak preview below). If you know anyone who would be interested in this research, please do share it.
We are developing a group coaching programme for sustainability professionals to directly support them to work through the challenges we identified in the research, if you are interested then sign up to our mailing list here to be the first to hear about it.
Until next time, take care x
